American Youth Film Festival Marketing Intern

This position assists the Festival Director in promoting the mission of The American Youth Film Festival (AYFF). Key responsibilities include: promoting festival, workshops and fundraising events online and offline to our core audience: middle school, high school and college students; drafting press releases; creating flyers, brochures and other promotional materials; updating and maintaining outreach lists; coordinating mailings; and acknowledging in-kind and monetary donations, and assisting with member recruitment and audience development efforts.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work closely with Festival Director, Festival Co-coordinator, and PR/Social Media Intern to Create buzz around The American Youth Film Festival (AYFF) and
  • Develop effective marketing strategies to build festival attendance and gain entries for Film Fest via website – www.AmericanYouthFilmFest.org
  • Promote AYFF Workshops, Programs, Events, Merchandise and Services online and offline in collaboration with the PR/Social Media Intern & Festival Director
  • Draft press releases, printed marketing material and other promotional items
  • Update and maintain outreach lists (schools, sponsors, etc…) and Coordinate electronic mailings
  • Post on Social Media once a week about the Film Fest
  • Recruit a team of faculty advisors (Directors) from middle & high schools to distribute Film Fest info
  • Recruit at least 2 other representatives to help coordinate volunteers & faculty advisors (Directors) 

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 hours a week is required.
  • Exceptional written, phone and oral communication skills
  • Strong networking/organizational/research skills
  • Interest in film, film festivals, and filmmaking
  • Experience using Photoshop, InDesign and other multi-media application
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with potential members, donors and the general public
  • A responsible work ethic, willingness to maintain confidentiality
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with attention to accuracy
  • Some experience in program administration, coordination and creation preferred
  • Thorough understanding of social networking platforms
  • Friendly and outgoing personality

Compensation/ Location: This is an unpaid internship, however course credit may be available for students. Interns also have full access to all The American Youth Film Festival (AYFF) resources during the time of their internship.  Interns will report to The American Youth Film Festival Director.
